It only works with water only. :) Anyway, I dipped the brush in ink and wrote some letters in Japanese and English. When writing letters with brush dipping homemade plant ink, being present. Paying attention to each line and stroke. Writing very slowly. Relaxing and using all your five senses. It is active meditation. Fun & Be creative :)
- ✿ Making Natural Plants Ink
As a floral arranger, I appreciate the life cycle of flowers and plants that I have decorated and grow in my garden. As a flower therapy, I gathered the flower petals of alstroemeria that have begun to wilt, put them in a bowl and crushed it with a wooden tool. Listened to the sound while crushing the flower petals. Observed the large pieces getting into small pieces. Added some water and continue crushing. Soon you saw colour, plant ink in the bottom of the bowl. I dipped the brush in ink and tried writing. "ALSTROEMERIA Hello :)" Unfortunately I did not make much ink, so that was it. I will try with another flower petals and vegetables.. With gratitude
- ✿ Organic Watercolour Paint from plants
Since I make flower arrangements, I always look for ways to appreciate the materials at different stages. Today, I made organic watercolour paint from flower petals and leaves. Put flower petals / leaves in a container. Add a little water Crush the petals/leaves and extract liquid Squeeze the petals/leaves for juice. It was fun to make some watercolour paints from plants. When you crush plants, you can hear some sounds and feel the textures of the material. Focus on crushing the plants is a therapeutic experience. It might be good to use flower petals or some plant material with scent. Observing the colour of liquid, you might find it beautiful. e.g. Watercolour from hydrangea flower petails, you might enjoy seeing the colour change when you add baking soda. Some plant materials change colours when adding baking soda. Tips: Try not to add too much water. Only a tiny amount of water to be added. If it is too watery, you might want to add extra materials to make the paint darker. Upcoming Event: Fun & Be creative
- ✿ Moss : Mindful, Peaceful and therapeutic experience
Beautiful moss everywhere. :D I really enjoy observing moss when I take a walk. I like moss since I visited “ Hakone museum of Art ” in Japan, which has a beautiful Japanese garden with various types of moss, beautiful trees and so on. Specially I was fascinated by moss, however I did not really learn names because there are so many of them at the time. There are many books about moss available nowadays. So I bought some books about moss, and started learning more about it. Moss has a sacred energy. Observing, touching and even being in the area of moss, you feel relaxed, peaceful and your soul is purified. Beautiful fresh moss grown means that it is a peaceful place. That is why I like moss. Specially I find fresh moss has such a pure energy. So peaceful. ✿ ✿ ✿ It is wonderful that you can take a walk and enjoy observing moss and feel peaceful, however you can bring them near you. Moss terrarium(苔テラリウム): It refers to growing moss-like plants in a transparent container or bowl-like container, and adding decorations to create a small world view. Moss Ball(苔玉): The roots of a plant are wrapped in potting soil to form a ball, with moss attached around it and secured in place with thread. Luckily I have beautiful moss in my back garden, so I collected them, wash them and put some in a small container, put a miniature figure and decorate it. Taking care of moss is equivalent to take care of yourself. A moment of peace is there when you observe the moss terrarium, check the conditions and mist water…etc. Sometimes a moss fell down from the roof I think. I found a beautiful round moss on the decking in my back garden. It made me happy as if I found a treasure. A lot of things to talk about, however I shall stop this article for now. With appreciation
- ✿ Organic Picnic & Retreat - Preparation
Upcoming event is called “ Organic Picnic & Retreat ” will be on 5th April, 2025 in Dublin, Ireland. This workshop would be suitable for the following type such as HSP (Highly Sensitive Person), HSP/HSS (Highly Sensitive Person/High Sensation Seeking), MBTI (INFP, INFJ, ENEP, ENFJ, ISFP)…also 「調舒星」 in 運命学(Unmeigaku). If you are not sure your type, there are sites that you can check by yourself. 運命学(Unmeigaku)is study of Fate/Destiny from the date of birth. It helps you to understand about yourself, what you are, your qualities.. etc. One of starts called「調舒星」. If you have this star when you check your date of birth, you are probably HSP. It is said that there are similarities HSP and MBTI (INFP, INFJ, ENEP, ENFJ, ISFP)In 運命学(Unmeigaku), some combination of stars might be similar to HSP. If you are interested in, you can check online too. As for me, I am not an expert of 運命学(Unmeigaku), so I can only share with you what I learned. HSP tends to like creating and expressing through art. They love nature and appreciate and moved by the beauty and pleasure. It is important to create a warmful space to observe, quiet and given much time for thoughts and share. I think it would be fun to have a retreat outdoor. Check this resources page . There is a free calculation tool you can use (I used it and it was fine), however it is in Japanese. So I wrote the steps to use the tool and how to read it. If you would like me to help you find it, please feel free to contact me. Also you can try this “Fun” Charts . ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و Have fun & Enjoy!
- ✿ Moss
Such a lovely day. I walked around the garden and admired the moss. Used magnifying glasses to look at the moss, and I took pictures.I tried to find the names, however it is not easy because some of them look similar. Here are some photos that I took. As you might see, unfortunately the quality of photos are not great. At Organic picnic & retreat workshop , we will explore nature using five senses. Learning the wisdom of nature and be present for mindful time.. With appreciation.
- ✿ Sound of birds, Sound of trees
It was a lovely day today. When I was taking a walk, I could hear birds were chirping. I was wondering how many different birds were singing. Looking up and see who are there, but I could only see one black bird. Where are the other birds, I thought. How about trees, I wonder. Have you heard sound of trees? I was wondering what kind of sounds trees make. At home, I tried to listen to my cherry tree in my back garden, I could hear some sound. However I was not sure if it was from the tree or somewhere else. I am making a simple tool that might be able to help me. If it works, I will share it at the upcoming workshop "Organic Picnic & Retreat" . With appreciation
- ✿ Mindfulness Cooking: Tamago Sandwich (たまごサンド)
Today, I made tamago sando (egg sandwich). There are many different ways of making, but mine is simple. 1. Make a boild egg. 2. Cut the egg into pices. 3. Add mayonnaise, salt and pepper. 4. Spread butter on the bread. 5. Spread egg mayo (2&3) on the bread. 6. Cut it in two pieces in angle or whatever you like. . While I was cutting the boild eggs into small pieces, I felt like it was an active meditation. :) Cut the eggs while watching the large chunks become smaller and smaller. See the white egg and yellow egg are mixing together and changing textures. Focus the sound of cutting. Cut the sandwitch slowely. Decorate them on a plate with crisps. Fruits would be nice. It was yummy. :) with appreciation
- ✿ A lunch Box Menu - Tamago Sandwich (たまごサンド)
“Organic Picnic & Retreat” I am thinking of providing lunch boxes as an option. Sandwiches might be good for a picnic lunch. How about "Tamago Sando"? In Japanese "Tamago" means eggs, "Sando" is short for Sandwich. 1. Make a boild egg. 2. Cut the egg into small pieces. 3. Mixed with mayonnaise (Kewpie) , salt and pepper . 4. Put it in bread. 5. Cut in half It is easy to make and yummy. Enjoy!
- ✿ A lunch Box Menu - Omusubi (おむすび)
Upcoming event called “Organic Picnic & Retreat”, I am thinking of providing lunch boxes as an option. Something easy to bring, delicious and feel happy. One of option would be “Omusubi”, I normally call it “Onigiri”. It is known as “Rice Ball” in English. Omusubi(おむすび)? Onigiri(おにぎり)? What are the difference?Depends on region, it may call differently. There is a theory that onigiri comes from the Japanese word "onikiri" which means to cut a demon. There is also a theory that omusubi comes from a god that appears in the Kojiki (古事記) or the auspicious word that brings people together in good relationships, called "o-musubi. (お結び)" I normally call “Onigiri” however I used “Omusubi” as this blog title because "Omusubi(お結び)" bring people together in good connection. Omusubi/Onigiri has various shapes and design. Popular omusubi filling (具) – sake (salmon), okaka, umeboshi (salted plum).. Shape – triangle round, tawara, sankaku, temari…etc Triangle(三角), Round(丸), tawara(俵), temari(手毬)…and so on. wrapped with nori (seaweed), thin egg, shiso leave… Omusubi is one of interesting food that it has many different types, tastes and designs. The main diffence between Omusubi and Norimaki is rice. If the rice contains sanbaizu (vinegar, soy sauce, mirin) , it is Sushi rice. Sushi rice wrapped with Nori is norimaki. ✿ ✿ ✿ One of my precious onigiri I made before was “Cherry Blossoms Onigiri”. Homemade dried/salted cherry blossoms petals (organic) was one of ingredients. I also added it on top so that it looks beautiful and tasty. Since I normally do not pick many flower petals from my cherry tree, it is so special and precious. It is very seasonal and organic. Eating it brings true joy and happiness. I have not decided what kind of "Omusubi" I am going to make for the picnic yet. A lot of things to say about Omusubi. however I shall finish this for now. Love & peace
- ✿ Flower Calendar (花暦)
Flower Calendar is a list of the times when various beautiful flowers bloom in the four seasons, with each section listing famous places to see the flower. As a flower arranger, I observe nature and appreciate flowers and plants in season, also learns wisdom of nature and takes them into my life. Flower Calendar vary from country to country, and even from region to region within the same country. Spring Flowers in Ireland: Hyacinths, Daffodil (Narcissus), Pansy, Primrose, Iris, Snowdrops, Anemones, Crocus, Allium, Lilacs, Bluebell, Freesia, Peony, Azalea, Anemone, Grape Hyacinth, Easter Lily... with appreciation
- ✿ Peach Festival (桃の節句)
In Japan, today is Hinamatsuri, which is known as the Doll Festival or Girl’s day in English. It's a special day to celebrate the health and happiness of young girls. The dolls are dolls that ward off impurities and bad luck from children, and are considered to be like guardian deities for their owners. There are different types of Hina dolls sets such as a large set consists of many layers (steps) to smaller one just a couple of dolls with some decorations. On that day, we have some traditional food such as “Chirashi zushi” (ちらし寿司)and Sakura mochi (桜餅)..etc. The kanji for "sushi「寿司」" is derived from the Japanese character for "longevity「長寿」," which means "govern longevity," so it is eaten on celebratory occasions, and chirashi sushi in particular is very visually appealing. Today , I made my favourite chirashizushi with smoked salmon, scrambled egg and sliced lettuce. I also added organic homemade cherry blossom flakes in it. On top of it, decorate with sliced kanikama (crab sticks) and nori (seaweed). How to make chirashizushi: 1. Cook steamed rice. 2. Add sanbaizu (*) in steamed rice and mix it. (*) Mix soy sauce, vinegar, and mirin in a 1:1:1 ratio. Just an idea. You might want to adjust ratio for your preference. I normally add less sugar (or mirin) 3. Also add your favourite ingredients. Different colour and textures might be good. e.g. Salmon (pink), Scramble egg (yellow) and edamame (green)When you add fresh seafood, rice should be cool down in advance. 4. You can also add sliced fried egg and nori (seaweed) on top of the chirashizushi on top. :) ✿ ✿ ✿ What is “Sakura Mochi”? A Japanese sweet associated with cherry blossoms, made by wrapping mochi in cherry blossom leaves. I will skip how to make it because I do not have a salted Sakura leaves for now but I am planning to make some later…I have to wait for my other Cherry trees to produce leaves. ✿ ✿ ✿ It has been changing how to celebrate Hinamatsuri and adults celebrate and enjoy Hinamatsuri for wishing one’s own happiness. In Japan, we have children's day (boy's festiva) in May. Kabuto and Koinobori are decorated. Traditional food are such as Kashiwamochi and Kusamochi...etc. With appreciation
